Mountain State University offers campus-based programs and distance education for Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's degree-seeking students. The independent, nonprofit university offers traditional classroom-based education for students at three attractive campus locations and a flexible online format for distance learners.

Mountain State is partnered with Technology Zone, the USDA, and Appalachian Visions among others to provide real-world training options and workshops for a variety of extended academic programs. The School of Extended and Distance Education provides numerous alternative methods for earning university credit, including independent study courses, degree completion programs, credit by examination, learning assessments for previous experience.
