The Doctor of Computer Science with a concentration in Digital Systems Security is designed to develop leaders in the implementation, evaluation and analysis of digital systems in which security is a primary component. This doctoral degree program is also designed to help provide candidates with the theoretical, research and application capabilities necessary to pursue career opportunities in Digital Systems Security. Coursework in this Computer Science graduate program is focused on teaching students how to demonstrate expertise within the sub-discipline of Digital Systems Security by summarizing the state of the art, selecting an important problem, conducting research addressing the problem and extending current knowledge with the results. Students are challenged to make well-founded forecasts about future challenges and developments in Digital Systems Security. The Doctor of Computer Science with a concentration in Digital Systems Security includes twelve 5-credit classes and twelve 3-credit research and writing courses. One research and writing course is taken each quarter in conjunction with one formal course over a three year period. Courses are taught using Colorado Technical University's Professional Learning Model™ in an executive format. Each course combines an active online component with an intensive residential session lasting four and a half days. Students are required to attend two of the quarterly residential sessions held throughout the year based on their start date.
