Online Theology & Religion Degrees

What will I learn in a theology and religion degree or training program?

There are really two different types of degree or training program in theology and religion. The first is where you learn all of the details and beliefs and practices of one religion alone. This might be within Christianity, perhaps Baptism, or Methodism, or it could be of a completely different religion like Hinduism or Islam. The second type of degree or training program is better called comparative theology, where you'll learn about many different religions, why and how they differ and perhaps the historical reasons for the differences. Both may well include the study of some historical languages, indeed of quite a lot of history itself, to see how the ideas and beliefs have developed.

What will a theology and religion degree or training program qualify me for?

That really depends upon which type of degree or training program you take part in. The first sort, one religion only, will most likely help you in a career as a minister or priest of the religion you study. As some religions insist that ministers take vows of poverty and others pay quite well, it's impossible to give an idea of incomes here. The second type of degree or training program usually leads to the social sciences, perhaps as an anthropologist (average salary $44,000) or as a sociologist ($58,000).
