Online Statistics Course Degrees

What will I learn in a statistics course or training program?

The aim of a degree or training program or just a statistics course is to teach you one of the fundamental ways of working out how the world works. It's very difficult for us to work out how an individual will react but we can make predictions about how a large group of people will change their behavior. Think of it this way, we have two dice, we cannot say what number will turn up when we roll them. However, we can assign a probability (12 is less likely than 7) and the more times we roll the dice the closer all the result together will come to our probability. So it is with people, we don't know what someone will do when something happens, but we can look at what most people will do. Statistics was actually started to try and work out those probabilities in gambling games and that's still one use of it. But a statistics course, whether a degree or a training program, will be teaching you much more than that, there are all sorts of tricks to work out what is important, what isn't.

What will a statistics course qualify me to do?

You will need to have a basic statistics course do do anything at all in the social sciences (or to learn how to play cards right). A degree or full training course might lead to a job as an actuary (average earnings $76,000), statistician ($58,000), political scientist ($87,000) or sociologist ($58,000).
