IT and Networking Design

According to a recent employment study by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) more than 25% of the jobs in demand are in technical support. These skilled professionals keep the computers and networks humming in an organization and are critical to the day-to-day operations of any firm. In response to this demand, we have developed the most comprehensive set of IT career-training programs in the industry. From Personal Computer (PC) and Network Support to Administration to Design to Security, each program has been carefully designed to help the student gain the knowledge and skills to start to qualify for the various and prestigious industry certifications.

This program teaches students the basic IT and Networking skills: how to install and configure PC hardware such as disks, memory and network adapters, how to install operating systems such as Windows and DOS, as well as diagnosis and troubleshooting of typical problems with hardware and operating systems. Students will learn how to install Microsoft Office, set up printing and troubleshoot common problems relating to Microsoft Office and e-mail. The curriculum also introduces concepts of computer networking, including Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN) and TCP/IP - Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol -- the standard for communicating over the Internet.

This program trains students in the skills necessary to support, administer and design network systems, as well as prepare for examinations, which lead to the A+, Network+ and Linux+ Certifications, which are industry-wide, vendor neutral programs, developed and sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). These credentials recognize a high level of training in the service and support field. Microsoft awards premiere status to individuals who can demonstrate proficiency in their products. Students may pursue the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification upon successful completion of this program. This program is available at our Wheaton school.
