Certificate in Architectural and Design Drafting

Drafting is a graphic language that communicates ideas and plans from the creative design stage through production. The world of technical drawing and design has undergone a period of major transition to automated techniques. Elements of the traditional methods and tools remain, but computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) is the new standard. Today’s technology enables drafters to create images so realistic that it is easy to envision the completed object or structure. Architectural Design Drafting students receive training in fundamentals of technical drawing and standard procedures for producing detailed working drawings. Dimensions, fasteners and joining requirements are included, as are other engineering data that comprise construction drawings, floor plans, elevations, and diagrammatic drawings. The program culminates in a Certificate of Achievement or Associate of Science degree in Architectural Design Drafting.
