Spouses of military personnel are often left behind to keep the home and family running while a parent is away for many months at a time. This often leaves the stay at home half with little no opportunity to work or go back to school because of time and financial restraints. The Military Spouse Career Advancement Account (MyCAA), which is an education funding program, has teamed up with a health care education company to help train spouses who want to earn a medical degree.
“The MyCAA funds serve as an excellent opportunity for military spouses to pursue rewarding new careers,” said Mike Wilstead, Career Step’s CEO. “In this economic environment many individuals are interested in retraining and education to expand their skills sets. Now, military spouses can prepare for careers in the growing medical transcription and medical coding and billing fields through Career Step programs funded entirely by the Department of Defense.”
The MyCAA funds are available worldwide to spouses of active duty, activated National Guard, and activated Military Reserve service members. Those who qualify can receive up to $6,000 of financial assistance to pay for education in high-growth, high-demand, portable career fields.
Career Step offers online career education in medical transcription and medical coding and billing, both of which are classified as high-growth sectors by the Department of Labor.
And as a high growth sector, there will be many jobs available to those who want to earn their medical degree online.
