Theresa,

I graduated from APU in December of 08' with a Masters degree in Sports Management, and I started teaching in the P.E. department as Adjunct faculty at the College that I have been coaching at for the past 3 years. You will be fine if you choose to attend APU

I would like to hear from anyone who has received a masters degree in History from APU. Have you had success in finding employment with your degree from APU? I am particularly interested in teaching history at the college level after earning my degree and I want to make sure that I will be able to do that with a graduate degree in History from APU.

Bob,

A degree from APU is just as accredited as a degree from Harvard, Georgia Tech, Boston College.....any degree granting institution. AMU/APU is both nationally and regionally accredited. You should have nothing stopping you from deciding to attend. It is an absolutely wonderful school, very affordable, and much more convenient that most. I highly recommend it. FYI, they just added a B.S. in Criminal Justice in June 2009. Now you're all set!

American Public University System (APUS) is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association and nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission, Distance Education and Training Council.

So they are accredited. That is a great question. Never go for a degree from a university that is not accredited. The degree will be worthless.

i was wondering how reputable online degrees/course were, i am interested in becoming a police officer, but our police department requires that we have a bachelor from an accredited college, i wonder if having a degree from APU will suffice

I've attended APU for the past semester while Active Duty with the USN, and it's been an incredible experience. I originally took two years of traditional courses with a state university before joining up, and I was concerned that an online degree would not challenge me. However, I have actually found that this specific online education, in some ways, actually outdoes my previous real-time classes. There is more freedom for interaction, and less outside pressure to attend physical classes and be active in this way especially with my job. Instead, it's all about my own, autonomous desire to learn, and that is more motivation than any professor has ever given me. The books are free, and my time (even more precious) is mine to give. Plus, every time I call or email the staff, the response is unbelievable- I actually recieve 100% better customer service and real help with APU long-distance than I ever got from walking into a line at the University office. I would definately recommend this school to anyone, but as it is an online school, I still suggest that it is best to supplement with traditional courses and a recognized degree. However, I would trust APU with any of my freinds or family or fellow servicemembers to help them get thorugh the graduation in any capacity.
