Baker College Online numbers increased 10 percent this summer from the same time last year to more than 8,800 students, the school has announced.

The increase, according to a news release, includes students from nine Baker campuses statewide who either took courses 100 percent online, a mix of online and campus-based classes, and students who took campus-based classes with some online coursework.

“In a recent study, it was predicted that by early 2008, one in 10 college students will be enrolled in an online degree program,” said Dr. Julia Teahen, president, Baker College Online. “At any given time, our online students represent more than 25 percent of Baker’s total enrollment.”

Students can earn useful skills by completing online degree programs. Baker College Online offers a wide variety of programs for students who seek an alternative to attending class on campus.
